DSE Entrance- Option B

Since so many of the students were asking about the entrance to DSE, i thought i will give some useful information regarding the tests, as the test in during the last week of june.
http://www.econdse.org This site gives the details.
The test can be taken up by economics students or non economic students who have taken up mathematics or statistics. Because i have a copy of the paper, i thought i will pen down the various topics covered in option B of the test.

The 2003 paper included
Euclidean matric-convergence
Functions-mapping
Vectors-linear dependence
Matrices-idempotent, symmetric
Joint density function- marginal pdf, interpretation
Probability-advanced(obviously)
Hypothesis testing
Maximum likelihod ratio estimate
Sequence-convergence

I did my undergraduation in Economics so i dont understand much of math, i have written what i felt was important. Hope it proves helpful to those who are taking up the test.

hi alex, i did my bachelors from M.G univ., Ker, whose syllabus apparently seems to hv been very shallow. i had written the test for econs with specialisation in world econ. (JNU)n i had no clue about the stuff they asked...mathematical appln of engel curve and pareto optimality is unheard of round here...am i alone in this or did most ppl find it this way? and what about the DSE paper...is it gonna b pretty much the same case? i really dont wnna waste money on air fare..so lemme knw. danke.

Well,
Sorry to tell you DSE is more mathematical than JNU so you have to prepare by looking into its past question papers and working out similar problems. Most students from south india will find it difficult because we are not accustomed to such questions.

if you are not good in mathematical economics then don't go for D' School..coz unfortunately you got admitted in DSE..every year 80 students out of 210 students fail coz of mathematics..and less creative thinking ..its fact..
sm1 fail in DSE exam and next year he admitted in ISI Delhi and got highest marks and not yet ..if you want to do
PHD for research..getting 2 rec. letrs s like winning millions in super lotto..
